Personal Statement

Track and Field has been my favorite sport since I began competing.  As a former football player, I believe in making teen unity and leadership a responsibility of my own that takes priority of anything else.  Competition and success in this sport depend greatly on those virtues as well my own individual performance.  Such a combination provides Track and Field with the uniqueness that brings me to enjoy it so much.  My individual state championship that I accomplished during my freshman year taught me this concept as well as increased my love for the sport.  The state title in the 400 meter prompted an invitation to an International track meet in Australia.

Adversity has not been a stranger to my track career.  My sophomore season consisted of a series of physical difficulties and eventually a sports hernia that prevented me from accomplishing a PR much less a state title or capitalizing on an opportunity to compete in Australia.  This has made me all the more determined to come back and show coaches my true potential in my junior season and in the international track meet in Australia which I have been invited a second time to compete in 2018 .  After nine weeks of physical therapy, I was released to train in August 2017.  Since then, I have been training on my own utilizing a Baylor Training program developed by Clyde Hart, which consists of a strict schedule of training four days a week in speed endurance and weight training.  My main athletic goal this year is to eventually accomplish my goal PR’s and my dream of receiving a scholarship to run track in college.
